Computer To Plate (CTP) R&D & Plate room Retrofit

 

Provided concept through completion services for the NYT migration from film based platemaking to direct to plate technology and work flow - in conjunction with R&D development of the laser platesetter by Western Lithotech and Mitsubishi Chemical.


Provided extensive systems integration and software design / development to enable film based images to be received, tracked, and anamorphic-ally scaled and annotated prior to being imaged direct to plate using a 532nm YAG laser. 


Performed engineering services to aid in the final machine design of the platesetter inclusive of concepts for design of field laser profiling of the laser spot and power readings through the final optics and equipment environment.


Supported extensive Design of Experiments to optimize the longevity of the Mitsubishi photopolymer and plate specifications including but not limited to plate anodizing characteristics, and developer solution / strength.


Provided engineering mechanical and electrical designs for plate-room revisions for the NYT New York production facilities - inclusive of architectural and MEP, equipment layout, and systems & software integration changes.


Managed all vendors for equipment and construction through completion.
